Ex Comp Adrian Davies celebrates 50 Years as a Royal Arch Mason

The Convocation of Hope and Sincerity Chapter held on Wednesday 27th November 2024 celebrated fifty years of service by Excellent Companion Adrian F.R. Davies, PDepGSwdB (and Past Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Gloucestershire) to Royal Arch Masonry in the Province of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

Excellent Companion Charles Perkins, PGStB, 2nd Provincial Grand Principal was present to ‘interview’ Excellent Companion Adrian, as he shared many interesting stories about his life, interests, family and Freemasonry, both the Royal Arch and Freemasonry in general.

Originally from Wrexham in North Wales, Adrian moved with his family to Dursley when he was 12 years old. On leaving Dursley Grammar School at the age of 16 he joined the Police as a cadet, joining the regular police force 3 years later. He retired after 30 years service following a RTA in the course of his police duties in which he sustained an unpleasant leg injury.

Adrian was Initiated into the Craft in the Royal Lodge of Faith and Friendship No. 270 in 1972 and subsequently Exalted into Hope and Sincerity Chapter No. 270 in Berkeley on 27/11/74, so the evenings celebration was literally 50 years to the day from the date of his Exaltation. Excellent Companion Adrian regaled the members of the Chapter and visitors present with fascinating stories of his years in Freemasonry and the Royal Arch in what was a most enjoyable and, at times, emotional evening.

In presenting Excellent Companion Adrian with his 50th Certificate and lapel badge, Charles acknowledged the assistance he had received from Excellent Companion Gordon Cole PGStB, in archiving the Chapters minutes from the time of Excellent Companion Adrian’s Exaltation and afterwards as he progressed through the offices of the Chapter and through the three Principals chairs. Charles thanked Excellent Companion Adrian for his 50 years sterling service to the Royal Arch and mentioned that for him it was an honour and a privilege to be able to be part of such a memorable event to mark what was such a special moment in Excellent Companion Adrian’s Masonic journey.
